Spaghetti Squash

Yesterday I tried something different-spaghetti squash alfredo boats with a kale salad. ( and a bread stick from Papa Johns) The salad was great...the squash, well lets just say it is no substitute for pasta.  It was pretty rich and maybe would have been better as a side dish.  Jackson was definitely not a fan. And Chris gave it good effort.  And said he would try spaghetti squash again if it was prepared differently.  I'm not sure if almost goring myself trying to cut through the darn thing is worth a second try.  We might just have to stick to pasta alfredo.

cereal face

So, I was so excited to start cereal with Cody, I poured the little rice flakes in the bowl and set them right in front of him while I went and heated up the milk. I turned around and this was what I saw. He was so excited he didn't want to wait or me to mix it all up, he just picked up the bowl and started licking it.  SO funny!

After we got that cleaned up and mixed the cereal we got to see the funny cereal faces! The ones that say what is this? What is that spoon for? Where is my bottle?

This is just the beginning of the whole world of food exploration.

Ok, this cereal stuff isn't sooo bad.

Next up on the menu- sweet potatoes and apples!

2 YEARS!!!!!!!!

We just celebrated Jackson's 2nd birthday! I can't believe we have a 2 year old now, this is so exciting and bittersweet at the same time.  Jackson is growing so fast, he is turning in to such a little boy now. We did have a great little birthday celebration with our wonderful family and friends.  We had a "Thomas the Train" birthday-Jackson loves everything Thomas, or James, or Percy, or Henry, or....any train!!! He got some new trains, pjs, books, puzzles, art and craft paper and stickers, play dough, a tricycle, fishing pole....so many new fun things.  Jackson really had fun playing with his cousins, too. It was so much fun watching them play, run around, laugh and giggle-probably my favorite part of the whole weekend.

Here are some things I love about our little 2 year old:
~ He still loves his "white blank", "blue blank" and Cody's cow-he won't go anywhere with out them
~ He learns so much everyday and teaches me new things everyday
~ I love our nighttime routine of "nuggle, nuggle" and reading books together (usually 5-10 books/night-he loves to read books)
~ I love his strong personality-he knows what he wants and has no problem telling us what he wants!
~ I love how we can actually have a conversation with each other
~ I love his big bear hugs, kisses, and Eskimo kisses
~ I love his laugh
~ I love that he can turn ANYTHING into a train shed-snow, boxes, legos, blocks, cards
~ It is so cute how he can tell me if his trains are happy or sad.  Trains are sad if their batteries don't work, their wheels don't work or if they are dirty, and of course they are happy, tired, busy or helpful.
Jackson is so much fun, we are so blessed to have our little guy!

Things to look forward to this year:
~ moving Cody into his bedroom
~ moving Jackson into a big boy bed
~ potty training

~ first fishing trip and many more new adventures that this year may bring

Fun day at the park

We have had an abnormally warm start of 2013.  But we are taking full advantage of those warm days on my days off.  We have spent a couple days at the park and it is so fun.  Jackson even brought Thomas and Percy (his trains) to the park.  He had fun swinging with them, sending them down the slides and burying them so we would have to find them!  And Cody just soaked up the fresh air, and the swing actually put him right to sleep.

4 months

Well, it has been a month since my last post....and we have another milestone. Cody is 4 months old!!! We have had such a great month.  Cody is so calm and happy.  We are so blessed.  He loves to watch Jackson, and just takes it all in.
A day at the park...in January! We have had some nice days and Cody loves the fresh crisp air.
Happy Baby!

Look at those big eyes...they are a beautiful bluish gray color. I hope they stay that way!

Here is Jackson given Cody "Kisses"  He has gone through a phase where he runs up and hits Cody, then tells me "I hit Cody" then has to go to time out.  Its funny because he knows exactly what he is doing and tries to get a reaction. But now he is moving back into hugs and kisses and gets a better reaction from this.  I know Cody is keeping tabs of every hit and just waiting till he is big enough to get him back. Oh Boy!

Bath time!  Cody has a litle tuff of hair on top of his head-it makes the perfect mohawk!

And he sleeps so good!

Cody, at 4 months you:
~weigh 14 lbs
~have rolled over from tummy to back and back to tummy a few times
~still sleep in your cradle for most of the night (the latter part of the night you usually end up in bed with us after your feeding
~you eat mostly breast milk and some formula
~You sleep the best on your tummy or on your side
~love to flirt, laugh and giggle
~like to hold onto toys and rattles
~like to look in the mirror
~love pat-a-cake and peek-a-boo
You are so happy Cody-bear, you melt my heart every day with you smiles and snuggles.

3 months

Our little Cody Bear, you are 3 months old today.  This has been a fun month with Christmas, family, football, and a Happy New Year.  This was also the month that mommy had to go back to work. You have started going to Nana's with Jackson, and you are such a good boy.

You were the Bronco's #1 fan and they made it to the playoffs! (But they lost their first game)
You love tummy time, and you are getting so strong!
You love to reach up and play with your toys in the rain forest!
you are always so happy and full of smiles.

 Cody, at 3 months you:
~ still haven't rolled all the way over, but you like to roll onto your side while you sleep
~ found your voice and love to squeal and scream
~ laugh and giggle all the time
~ put up with a lot from your brother who loves to give you kisses, give you your "binket" (pacifier), give you toys, and cover you with blankets
~ like to sit up where you can see and observe everything that is going on
~ sleep great at night in your cradle, then when you wake up around 3 or 4 you like to come sleep with mommy and daddy
~ eat about every 3 hours during the day. (and you have thrown up into my mouth twice while burping you)
~ like to suck on your knuckles  and pacifiers
~ sometimes when you sleep you rest a hand over your eyes or mouth like you are deep in thought
Cody, you are so sweet and easy going. You just melt our hearts with all your smiles and snuggles. We love you so much.
